As a disease, acne is not fatal or life threatening in any way, shape or form. Anyone who has acne should not be concerned about dying from the disease because it does not work that way. However, one thing that acne can do to a person is cripple his or her self-esteem. So even if it has no fatal complications, acne can still cause a lot of misery for people who are affected by it. Most of the people who are suffering from acne are teens that are in high school or college. They get ridiculed by their peers because of the blemishes that they have on their faces, and this directly results in them having low self-confidence.

However, this can be remedied by using anti-acne creams or by undergoing a cosmetic surgical procedure. The latter option is the most effective, but demands a high price.

What Causes Acne?

Acne is a skin condition that is characterized by the appearance and formation of red pimples. The disease is not fatal nor does it have any deadly complications, but it can cause a lot of self-esteem issues among people. It also has the tendency to target other areas of your body besides the face. The areas in question are the back and the chest. Acne can be a pretty ghastly site to behold and anyone who has a severe case of acne will easily be disgusted at looking at his/her reflection in the mirror.

So what exactly causes acne and how can we remedy this condition?

To start off, acne is caused by a certain substance called sebum, which is an oil found in our skin. This oil causes our skin’s pores to become clogged and the resulting infection becomes acne. Our hormones are the main reason as to why our bodies produce more and more sebum. Teens usually have a great surge in hormones which is why they are the ones who often get affected by acne. Women who are in their 40′s and 50′s are also prone to acne since their hormones fluctuate around this time.

Fortunately, almost all forms of acne can now be treated or controlled thanks to some major advances in medicine. Mild cases can be remedied by observing proper skin care and by using anti-acne creams that don’t require a prescription. However, those who are suffering from severe cases of acne should get help from a licensed professional.

In a nutshell, our acquisition of acne all boils down to our hygienic practices. So this means that the more we take care of our skin, then the lesser the chances will be of us getting acne.
